Connie Britton says Kyle Chandler is delaying ‘Friday Night Lights’
“Nashville†star Connie Britton appeared on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live†on Monday and talk inevitably turned to the possibility of Britton returning to her most famous role, that of Texas spitfire Tami Taylor, wife of Coach Eric Taylor on the much loved NBC/DirecTV series “Friday Night Lights.†Britton has been the most vocal about the possibility of a reunion, and she has given varying answers, but her reason for the delay is surprising. Apparently, we have the coach himself to blame.
Almost since the moment Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) walked off the football field with his wife in the final episode of “Friday Night Lights†in 2011, fans have been clamoring and pleading for some kind of reunion. There has even been talk of a big screen movie (which would actually be the second “Friday Night Lights†feature, but never mind).
Anyone with visions of an “Arrested Developmentâ€-like rebirth should temper his or her expectations. While everyone from “AD†was gung ho about returning to the show, there’s a very essential element from “FNL†not so hot about getting back out on the field.

“You know, there’s been a lot of talk about a lot of things,†Britton told “Watch What Happens Live†host Andy Cohen. “And some people are really excited about it, and other people aren’t. ... I love the idea. I think it would be a great idea. But my former husband, Coach Eric Taylor...â€
Cohen filled in the blanks. “He thinks you did it already.â€
“Well, and he has a point,†Britton said. “And we would only do it if it was going to be a great movie. That’s the thing.â€
Chandler’s post-â€FNL†career has been pretty elite, with roles in “Zero Dark Thirty†and “Argo,†as well as parts in the upcoming “Wolf of Wall Street†and the Showtime series set in the Catholic church, “The Vatican.â€
Is he willing to trade in his clerical collar for the trademark Taylor shorts and windbreaker? It’s never too late to give up hope.
