The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Wednesday announced nominations for the 40th Daytime Emmy Awards, and although the list was dominated by longtime favorites “The Ellen DeGeneres Show†and “Sesame Street,†a few newcomers, including the syndicated “Katie,†also made the cut.

CBS had 50 nominations, the most for any network. Its total was boosted by “The Young and The Restless,†which had more nods --23 -- than any other daytime series. It was nominated alongside “General Hospital,†“The Bold and the Beautiful,†“Days of Our Lives†and “One Life to Live†for outstanding drama series.

“Sesame Street†overcame a year marked by scandal to score 17 nominations, the most for any children’s show. The Hub’s horror series “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour†also fared well, with 9 total nominations, including one for outstanding children’s series.
