Watch ‘Breaking Bad’ reimagined as a middle school musical
Call it the longest bathroom break in the world: “Breaking Bad†viewers have been waiting almost a year to find out what will happen once Hank exits the powder room at Walt’s house, the unlikely location where he finally discovered his brother-in-law’s secret identity as a crystal meth kingpin.
Now there are just six days left until the show returns to AMC on Sunday for its final, eight-episode stretch, and happily the Internet seems to be conspiring to make the wait slightly more tolerable. Exhibit A is “Breaking Bad: The Middle School Musical,†which reimagines the Emmy-winning show as the story of a power-mad purveyor of addictive “blue rock candy.â€

It goes without saying that “Breaking Bad,†which traces Walt’s transformation from a mild-mannered chemistry teacher into a ruthless drug lord, is hardly a show for kids (or, for that matter, squeamish adults). But that doesn’t mean that, with a few judicious edits and several gallons of poster paint, it can’t be adapted into an adorable, tween-appropriate musical.
It’s worth nothing that while “Breaking Bad: The Middle School Musical†is mostly faithful to its source material, it also includes a speculative scene in which Walt is arrested by Hank.
Maybe its creators, Rhett & Link, know something we don’t?
