‘Breaking Bad’ breaks ratings record in finale curtain-raiser
“Breaking Bad,†breaking records.
The intense hype surrounding the final episodes of AMC’ acclaimed “Breaking Bad†paid off big-time. The launch of the series’ final eight episodes on Sunday was the most-watched in the drama’s history, scoring 5.9 million viewers.
The tune-in was 102% over the viewership for the fifth season premiere last summer, said the network.
The ratings also gave a strong boost to the premiere of AMC’s new police drama, “Low Winter Sun,†which followed the “Breaking Bad†episode. “Low Winter Sun†pulled in 2.5 million viewers, while “Talking Bad†-- the discussion show about “Breaking Bad,†which also debuted Sunday -- attracted 1.2 million viewers.
