“Breaking Bad†is finally over. What, you hadn’t heard? The show may be gone, but one Albuquerque-based fan group has said goodbye in style. They’ve purchased an obituary announcement in Mr. White’s hometown paper, the Albuquerque Journal.

The paid announcement, featuring a small pic of Bryan Cranston as Walter White and a brief recap of the character’s death -- “died Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer, and a gunshot wound†-- appeared on page A4 of Friday’s edition of the newspaper.

The obit was paid for by the group “Unofficial ‘Breaking Bad’ Fan Tour,†led by Albuquerque area high school science teacher David Layman.

According to the Journal, Layman appeared in the pilot of “Breaking Bad†and has remained an avid fan ever since. No doubt partially because the series charts the transformation of a struggling high school chemistry teacher into a lethal and powerful drug kingpin. Isn’t that every teacher’s faculty lounge fantasy?

The obit reads, “In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a drug abuse prevention charity of your choice. He will be greatly missed.â€

The rest of it may be fiction, but that last line is completely true.
