BBC America’s ‘Orphan Black’ returns for Season 2 in April 2014
BBC America renewed its acclaimed sci-fi series “Orphan Black†for a 10-episode second season in May. On Monday it announced that Season 2 will premiere Saturday, April 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The announcement was made via a 16-second graphic trailer during the encore broadcast of “Doctor Who’s†50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.â€
“Orphan Black†is a Canadian series starring Tatiana Maslany (“Picture Day,†“Parks and Recreationâ€) as a number of identical women who have been cloned. In particular, as Sarah Manning, a woman who takes on the identity of one of her clones after she stumbles upon her committing suicide.

The show first premiered in late March and met with generally favorable reviews, scoring 73 out of 100 on Metacritic. Fans of the show are particularly keen on the issues it raises concerning the moral ambiguity of human cloning.
Season 2 begins with Manning in a desperate search for her missing daughter, Kira (Skyler Wexler, “Carrieâ€.) The next 10 episodes are currently being filmed in Toronto.
