Drake announces new arena tour, two Southland dates
Drake may not be making any new friends lately, but he’s more than happy to invite several thousand fans over for a new arena tour.
The rapper and devoted lonely-heart has announced a new tour of North American arenas this fall, with two Southland dates. He’ll stop at Honda Center in Anaheim on Nov. 21 and Staples in L.A. on Nov. 25.
His local peer in woozy crooning, Miguel, will join him on both dates, and the rising Atlanta rapper Future will also accompany on various sets. Tickets for both go on sale Friday, June 28, at 10 a.m.
The tour is timed to his forthcoming third full-length album, “Nothing Was the Same,†and several sneak previews have already yielded a rash of early praise, including the rap-radio staple “Started From the Bottom,†“5 a.m. in Toronto†and “Girls Love Beyonce.â€
Drake’s band-driven live sets and his championing of new, surprising pop-hit peers ike The Weeknd have cemented him as an influential live force. Even if he didn’t pre-sell a million albums via smartphone promotion, it’ll still be a major fall tour.
