Lady Gaga confirms album with Tony Bennett
Lady Gaga is keeping busy, and not just from touring and working on her highly anticipated album, “ARTPOP†– the singer is crafting a jazz album with iconic crooner Tony Bennett.
Gaga confirmed the long rumored project on Twitter when she posted a picture of her and Bennett, who attended President Obama’s Staff Ball on Tuesday with her and joined her later onstage.
“And here’s me and my handsome date, I simply cannot wait for our album together, he’s my darling!†she wrote.
News that a joint album between the two – who previously worked together on “The Lady Is a Tramp†off his 2011 release “Tony Bennett: Duets II†– leaked late last year.
Bennett told Billboard last year that Gaga’s father, Joseph Germanotta, called him while Gaga was on tour in Australia. “He said she told him that ‘I want to do a jazz album with Tony Bennett, a jazz album,’†Bennett said. “So that will be the next album after (‘Viva Duets’).â€
“It’s going to really reaffirm that she’s one of the best jazz singers that anyone’s ever heard,†he added.
