Charlie Sheen ponies up $12,000 to help Bieber paparazzo’s family
Charlie Sheen is at it again: giving away money, this time to help cover funeral expenses.
The “Anger Management†actor on Wednesday reportedly wrote a $12,000 check to the family of Chris Guerra, a paparazzo who died after being hit by a car on New Year’s Day.
“A tragic incident like this erases the line between the photographer and the subject,†Sheen’s rep told TMZ, which obtained a shot of the check, written off Charlie’s pocket account. “It’s an unforgiving moment that begs us all to be human and work as one to prevent this in the future. As parents, we are all not supposed to bury our children. My deepest condolences to the families involved.â€
A wake was being held Thursday, according to E! News, which said Sheen decided to chip in after an appeal from a photographer pal who was a friend of Guerra’s and was trying to help raise money so the paparazzo’s family could cover the funeral bills.
When he was hit, Guerra, 29, was crossing Sepulveda Boulevard to return to his car after trying to get shots of a traffic stop involving Justin Bieber’s Ferrari (the Biebs wasn’t in the sports car).
Sheen and his stunt double previously contributed a total of $100,000 to help the child of a Hermosa Beach police officer battle cancer. A day before the donation, the actor had been chatting with another Hermosa officer about the situation, and reportedly declared, “No parent should have to watch their kid go through that.â€
Then there was the $100,000 sent Lindsay Lohan’s direction to help her pay outstanding tax bills. Though she didn’t thank him immediately, causing a bit of Sheen consternation in a light-hearted “Entertainment Tonight†interview, she ultimately sent flowers and a note to Sheen -- and the money to the tax man.
