Madonna booed (and cheered) after Obama endorsement in New Orleans
A stadium full of screaming fans opened their hearts to Madonna and her music on Sunday in New Orleans. But to her political opinions? Different story.
Madonna, touring the U.S. in support of her latest record, “MDNA,†was vamping for the crowd (on her birthday!) and brought up the upcoming election.
“Are you all registered to vote?†she asked (concert footage can be found here but contains some profanity from Madge). After a few moments of pumping up the crowd, she added: “I don’t care who you vote for as long as it’s Obama.â€
There were cheers, but the joke landed like a lead balloon with some. Madonna, trying to guage reaction, asked the front rows, “Are they booing me?â€
Indeed.
Madge backpedaled, saying, “I don’t care who you vote for†but stressed: “Do not take this great privilege for granted.â€
But before you go vote, check out the laundry list of other headline-grabbing moments from the MDNA tour: Such as when she called Obama a “black Muslim,†updated her iconic cone bra and confronted the leader of the French conservative party with swastikas.
