The screen and stage actor was found dead in his New York City apartment with a syringe in his left forearm and drug paraphernalia nearby. Upward of 50 -- some reports have gone as high as 70 -- packets of heroin were found in the apartment, and Hoffman in the past had commented on his addiction.
Police on Tuesday night arrested four people on drug charges, Nation Now said. Though police wouldn’t officially link the arrests to the death investigation, TMZ reported that authorities were working off an investigation-related tip. Three men and one woman were arrested, all from New York and allegedly possessing 350 packets of heroin among them, the website said.
Two of the men were charged with felony drug possession, according to Nation Now. The other man and the woman were charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
