Miley Cyrus opened up about her broken engagement with Liam Hemsworth during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show†airing Friday.

The “We Can’t Stop†singer, who is still somehow dominating the news cycle since her controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance in August, is currently on a tour promoting her newly released “Bangerz†album.

Quite a few things have changed since the last time she appeared on “Ellen†in November, such as her engagement to Hemsworth, a star of “The Hunger Games,†being called off.

Tongues have been wagging after her notorious “twerking†performance at the VMAs, her controversial comments about drugs and sex, and her stripped-down music video for “Wrecking Ball.†However, despite her increasing high public profile, the actress-singer has stayed mum about the end of that relationship. Until now.

The couple met on the set of their film “The Last Song†in 2009 and dated for four years. Hemsworth, 23, proposed in 2012, but their relationship was plagued by breakup and cheating rumors over the past year. It finally came to a halt in mid-September.

“So the last time you were here, I threw you an engagement party,†DeGeneres said, playing back a clip of strippers dancing for Cyrus.

“Do you want your money back?†Cyrus quipped.

“I want my money back. I sent like you know, you enjoyed it,†DeGeneres said, showing the strippers clip again.

“I should of kept one of those dudes’ numbers. That woulda come in handy now,†the “Hannah Montana†alum said.

Cyrus said she wasn’t uncomfortable getting so much media attention in the aftermath of her breakup, giving DeGeneres long-winded answers about her thought process.

“It’s not really as awkward because I’m living it,†Cyrus said. “So I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one, and that’s kind of where I am right now. I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn’t really been focused on that.â€

“I’ve been kind of impressed with people and how much they’ve actually shown more respect. I don’t really look up anything, so maybe they haven’t been showing respect, but from what I have, like, seen, I felt like people have really focused on my music right now when I’ve needed them and have actually been really good about that. Because that’s the only thing I worried about, was I didn’t want it to make me to sacrifice what I’ve been working for, for just the attention to be on that.â€

The Ministry believes that she needs to read more...

The 20-year-old also said that she wanted her music to take precedence over her personal life, rather than have it be overshadowed, but her album happens to take on the arc of her relationship.

“The whole album is a story of that,†she said. “And I think it says that with starting with ‘Adore You’ and ending with ‘Someone Else’ is I feel like you can really find like this arc of, like, growth and I didn’t even know as much until I really listened to it now that it’s done and I have, like, my physical copy and I put it in my car. I’m like this is really, like, telling a story. I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going than I actually thought I did at the time.â€

But just because she’s single again doesn’t mean Cyrus has started dating already -- even though she was reported to be making out with producer Mike Will Made It and others at her release party earlier this week.

“You know, for me, I really haven’t gotten to see anyone right now. ‘Cause I’ve been like so crazy busy. I’m just letting that chapter kind of close and just looking forward to that new one,†she said. “I want to be really clear and determined with everything I’m doing in my life right now, and I have been. ... I keep saying I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and that’s not even a dig. That’s just me because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I’ve never been able to just be alone, and I’m obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts.â€

The former Disney star said she’s focused on herself and all the people that are close to her, to figure out how they’re inspired and learn as much as she can about them.

Cyrus said it’s been “the craziest time†in her whole life and didn’t understand why there was so much hype around her provocative VMA performance, which she rehearsed several times with Robin Thicke. She also added that she has an obsession with “being an adult baby.†Color us puzzled.

Surprisingly, this is the most normal and zen the singer has appeared in some time -- even when DeGeneres presented her with a skimpy onesie and a “bobble butt†twerking action figure. However, we’re still waiting for some enormous purple teddy bear to pop out of nowhere and yell, “Psyche!â€
