Miley Cyrus still mourning dog Floyd, ‘torn’ about new pup Moonie
Miley Cyrus may have a new dog in her pack, but that doesn’t mean she’s over the death of her favorite pup, Floyd, who passed away last week.
The 21-year-old singer has been publicly mourning on Twitter for days now, since she announced Floyd’s death Tuesday. On Friday she tweeted the arrival of Moonie, a gift from her mother.
“my mama knew my heart was broken & this morning I woke up to Moonie kisses,†Cyrus wrote, including a picture of Moonie.
The picture was retweeted more than 20,000 times and marked a favorite by about 46,000 fans.
But while the new pup has offered comfort, she hasn’t replaced Floyd in the singer’s heart. Her usually -nighttime tweets have been plaintive and plentiful.
“I wanna go home. But I don’t wanna go home to a home with no Floyd. 5 am. Can’t sleep. Playing Barclays tomorrow. guide me rainbow Floyd,†she tweeted in the wee hours Saturday morning, adding, “So torn. I love having little Moonie cuddle w me and Mary Jane but just don’t know if I’m ready to love again.â€
Saturday at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center, she even sang to a giant inflatable dog in honor of her departed Alaskan Klee Kai, E! News reported.
Sunday brought more conflict and sadness on social media, where Cyrus said she’s trying to tweet about her loss “rather than screaming and waking up the entire hotel!â€
“I was/still kinda am torn about Moonie bc I would do anything 2 hold Floyd. But I can’t. Moonie is giving me so much [love] & 1 day @ a time,†she said in a series of tweets. “But I just gotta take it one day at a time and take in all the love little Moonie is giving me.â€
It’s quite a departure from her usual persona, full of the sexually charged rebellion that fuels her “Bangerz†tour. Seems she breaks just like a little girl.
