Manu Bennett of “The Hobbit†and “Arrow†fame is the most recent actor to have gone astray after a fan event: He was arrested in the wee hours Sunday in San Antonio while in town for the Alamo City Comic Con.

The 45-year-old actor, who had appeared as a celebrity guest, was taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and later charged with misdemeanor assault after an alleged incident at a post-party, according to the Associated Press.

A police report obtained by TMZ said that Bennett, who played Azog in the “Hobbit†films and is Slade Wilson on “Arrow,†had too much to drink and was asked to leave the hotel room where the party was happening. On his way out, he allegedly stared down other guests and then punched a 29-year-old man, breaking and bloodying the man’s nose, the website said.

Bennett was reportedly arrested in his room at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio. He’s since been released on $1,600 bail.

Perhaps he can make up some of that cash this coming weekend: He’s scheduled as a celebrity guest at Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Ore., where he’ll be charging $60 for an autograph and the same for a photo op.

(To put that in context, Carrie Fisher is getting $80 per signature and $90 per pose, but Bennett’s “Arrow†costar Brandon Routh is clocking only $40 for an autograph, $50 for a pic.)

Fans can hope things won’t get too crazy up there for Bennett. But it’s all too easy for actors to get carried away by conventions’ party atmospheres. Just ask Nicholas Brendon.
