Kanye West says he and Donald Trump had a ‘multicultural’ conversation

Kanye West has revealed what he and President-elect Donald Trump talked about Tuesday in their surprising meeting — and it had nothing to do with performing at the inauguration of POTUS No. 45.

“I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues,†West said in a series of tweets. “These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change.â€

The explanation was the first social-media peep in months from the rapper, who was raised in Chicago. He announced in September that he was taking a break from his phone, and since then has come online only in October, to wish wife Kim Kardashian a happy birthday.

West concluded his message by tweeting simply, “#2024†— perhaps indicating that his stated plan to run for president himself in 2020 had been amended to allow the incoming commander in chief time for two full terms.

Yeezy had arrived at Trump Tower Tuesday morning with an entourage including a videographer, and 40 minutes later, he and the Donald stepped out of the elevator together, posed for pictures and spoke briefly to reporters assembled in the lobby.

“He’s a good man, doing well. We’ve been friends for a long time,†Trump said. The topic of their talk? “Life,†he said.

The usually chatty rapper then explained to reporters why he wasn’t chiming in: “I just wanted,†he said, “to take a picture right now.â€

West even took home a souvenir: an autographed copy of Time magazine with Trump on its Person of the Year cover.
