People sure are smelling a lot of stuff around Justin Bieber lately: The pop singer’s private plane was detained and searched at a New Jersey airport Friday after authorities thought they smelled marijuana smoke onboard, according to various reports.

Customs and Border Protection agents began a search shortly after the plane arrived at Teterboro Airport from Toronto around 3 p.m. Friday, ABC News sources said. A canine team gave the whole aircraft the sniff test, but no drugs were found onboard, according to the New York Daily News.

The flight was crossing the border after Bieber on Wednesday turned himself in to Toronto police for booking on suspicion of assault on a limo driver back in December.

The smell of alcohol was mentioned prominently in the police report for Bieber’s DUI arrest Jan. 23 in Miami Beach, Fla.

“I immediately smelled an odor of alcohol eminating [sic] from the driver’s breath,†the report read. The singer was later determined to have a negligible amount of alcohol in his system, registering a blood-alcohol level of 0.014% on a breath test (0.08% is legally intoxicated). However, he did test positive for weed and Xanax.

Bieber has pleaded not guilty to charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license, and will be arraigned Feb. 14 in that case.

Coincidentally, Bieber, his dad and some friends were headed into the New Jersey-New York area to attend parties around Super Bowl XLVIII, which some smarties have dubbed the “Weed Bowl,†because marijuana is legal in Colorado and Washington, the states from which the competing teams hail.

“Never forget where you come from or those who supported you before anyone else,†the 19-year-old tweeted Thursday night along with a link to a story about his hometown having his back.

“Still the small town kid,†he wrote. “Thanks.â€
