Jennifer Lopez’s house was home to alleged stalker for six days
Jennifer Lopez has experienced a sort of home invasion — one only slightly less scary than the kind that first comes to mind.
A man whom the star already had an order of protection against managed to get into the pool house of her Hamptons estate and lived there for six days earlier this month, according to reports citing Southampton, N.Y., police.
John M. Dubis, 49, a former firefighter from Rhode Island, allegedly slept on the pop star’s couch, did a little yard maintenance, posted Facebook photos from the property under the name “David A. Lopez†and left his car parked out front as if he were a welcome guest, the New York Post reported.
Dubis was noticed on the property by a worker Aug. 8, Newsday said. He was arraigned the next day — pleading not guilty — on two felonies (second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal contempt) and two misdemeanors (fourth-degree stalking and possession of burglar tools) and was being held in a Southampton jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
When challenged by the Lopez staffer, Dubis claimed to be her husband, the Post said; when police showed up, he reportedly told them he was Lopez’s baby daddy, saying she’d left the pool house open for him.
A psychiatric exam was ordered for Dubis, who reportedly had the protective order against him after contacting Lopez’s mother earlier this year and telling her he was her son.
Lopez was not at the three-acre property while Dubis was there, but security guards were, TMZ noted. The $10-million main house has eight bedrooms and almost that many baths in 8,500 square feet.
In other J.Lo news, the superstar might be returning as an “American Idol†judge this coming season, if what boyfriend Casper Smart said turns out to be the truth. An official announcement is supposedly coming this week.
She’d be joining returning judge Keith Urban, and reportedly wants Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun to take the third seat on the panel.
