Jennifer Lawrence on being called ‘fat’ and a ‘stuttering idiot’

Jennifer Lawrence is putting her haters on blast, though she isn’t naming names.

In a cover story in the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, the young Oscar-winner talks about the negative feedback she’s already received during her short career, including people telling her she was overweight or calling her a “stuttering idiot.â€

“I was young. It was just the kind of ... that actresses have to go through,†the 23-year-old told the mag (via the Mirror.) “Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet.â€

Ouch.

“They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I’m above it all. ‘You really still care about that?’ Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt,†she added. “It doesn’t matter what accolades you get. I know it’ll never happen to me again. If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet,’ I’m like, ‘You can go ... yourself.’â€

The zany actress took home the coveted lead actress award for her role as a ballroom-dance-loving widow in David O. Russell’s dramedy “Silver Linings Playbook.†As she went to accept the honor, she stumbled on the stairs and didn’t totally recover when it was time to give her speech. She received a standing ovation but called out the audience saying, “You guys are standing up because you felt bad that I fell, which is embarrassing. This is nuts.†Apparently, there was a backlash following that wipeout too.

“[The other person said] other people are getting up and owning the stage and you sound like a stuttering idiot. Pull it together. I said, ‘I’m not doing it on purpose, I’m uncomfortable and when people get uncomfortable they resort to their ... .’ I make awkward jokes and stutter,†she said.

“That was actually a moment when I really wanted it to be special. That was not the time I wanted to be the down-home Girl. I wanted to be graceful.â€

Funny enough, the Ministry thought she handled the whole mishap quite well ... .

Lawrence returns to theaters Nov. 22 in the highly anticipated “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,†the second film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ young adult novel series. Last week she started filming the third installment of the four-part film series in Georgia, E! News reported. The three books in Collins’ trilogy about a dystopian televised battle for survival will be made into four films.

The Kentucky native is also back on the big screen next May reprising her role as shape-shifting mutant Mystique in “X-Men: Days of Future Past†and has already completed filming the 1970s throwback flick “American Hustle†with her “Silver Linings Playbook†director Russell and costar Bradley Cooper. She’ll also make a cameo appearence as the younger version of Kathleen Turner’s Fraida Felcher in Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ “Dumb and Dumber†sequel.

The accolades and critical praise aren’t what motivate her. The jokester said that it was “the money†-- and on-set catering.

“My bodyguard Gilbert, right before they call ‘action,’ I’m like, ‘If there aren’t Cheez-Its here by the time they call cut, just go home.’ And he’ll start running. It cracks me up how seriously he takes it,†she said. “It’s not my performance that is motivating me. I want to get the on-set catering.â€
