Jaime King of ‘Hart of Dixie’ expecting baby No. 2 after sharing fertility woes
Jaime King just announced her baby sequel: The “Hart of Dixie†star is pregnant again.
King, who plays scheming Southern belle Lemon Breeland on the quirky CW series, announced the news in a sweet Instagram post on Thursday.
“So excited to announce THE SEQUEL Coming later this year!! ... #BabyTown2 - Created by @kyle_newman and @jaime_king. Also starring #JamesKnight,†she wrote, posting a pic of her son James toting a sign announcing the news.
“I’m gonna be a big brother! Who da boss now? I’m so excited,†the sign said.
Newman, a director, posted the same shot, adding: “So thrilled to announce we are having another baby.â€
The actress, 35, and Newman wed in 2007 after dating for two years. They welcomed son James Knight in October 2013.
Last summer, the actress shared her infertility struggles in an Instagram post, which has since been removed from the photo-sharing site. In January, she further opened up about her condition and the journey to conceiving her son.
“I was hiding what I was going through for so long, and I hear about so many women going through what I went through,†she told People. “If I’m open about it, hopefully it won’t be so taboo to talk about it.â€
The blond star said she had five miscarriages, did five rounds of in vitro fertilization and endured 26 rounds of intrauterine insemination before she was able to naturally conceive her firstborn. After that, she also struggled with postpartum depression and had to take some additional time off before returning to “Hart of Dixie.â€
Meanwhile, King’s co-star Scott Porter, who plays golden boy George Tucker on the series, announced earlier this month that he is expecting his first child with wife Kelsey Mayfield.
The show’s star, Rachel Bilson, became a mom to daughter Briar Rose in November with longtime beau Hayden Christensen. Showrunners had to write the actress’ pregnancy into the Season 4 storyline (while Lemon took a leave from Bluebell during King’s pregnancy in Season 3).
The current season has already wrapped production, a rep for the show said, so the pregnancy likely won’t have effect.
A rep for King declined to further comment on the news.
