Hugh Jackman got his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on Thursday, introduced by Jay Leno and supported by his “Les Miserables†costars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.

“I believe this is the 2,487th star on the Walk of Fame,†Jackman told the crowd, “however, apart from Lassie, I’m the only one who’s gotten it for playing the same character in 15 movies.â€

Leno, on whose show the actor had made his first American TV appearance, gushed over Jackman. “I don’t believe wealth and fame changes anybody, I think it just exaggerates who you already are,†the talk-show host and comic told the crowd before turning to acknowledge the honoree. “And I think all your wealth and success and fame and all these things have just made you more of the better person you are.â€

Known far and wide for his work as Wolverine in the “X-Men†series of films — not to mention smaller flicks like “The Prestige,†a Ministry favorite, and “Kate & Leopold,†for which he was Golden Globe-nominated — Jackman will be seen next as Jean Valjean in “Les Miz,†which opens wide on Christmas Day.

The honor came after the actor learned Wednesday morning that he’d earned a SAG Awards nomination and Thursday morning that he’d earned a Golden Globe nod, both honors for his work as Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables.â€

Jackman’s also been a star on stage, taking home a Tony Award in 2004 for “The Boy From Oz,†earning a special Tony in 2012 for extraordinary contribution to the theater community, and hosting the Tonys three times (earning a 2005 Emmy for one of those turns).

Jackman was in bed when he got the early-morning phone call telling him about the Globes nod for best actor in a comedy or musical, he told “Entertainment Tonight.â€

“We got in about 2 o’clock in the morning from New York,†he said, “so I’d kind of just gotten off to sleep — but it’s probably the best way to be woken up, ever. If I could actually just put that into an alarm clock, that phone call, I’d wake up feeling great every day.â€
