Her rep did not immediately return a request for comment.

“Catherine has proactively checked into a healthcare facility,†the actress’ rep told the Ministry last month. “Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.â€

Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic-depression, is typically lifelong and recurrent. People with bipolar II swing from severe depression to a milder and briefer manic state called hypomania. They aren’t impaired to the extent that folks with bipolar I can be.

The “Side Effects†star previously sought treatment for her condition at a Connecticut facility back in April 2011, after dealing with the stress of the previous year, which included her husband’s fight with throat cancer.

Her husband, Michael Douglas, 68, described her most recent visit to the facility as a “10,000-mile check-up,†according to the mag.

“She’s doing a really good job,†Douglas said while in Cannes promoting his HBO Liberace biopic, “Behind the Candelabra.†“I can’t wait to see her. I’m proud of her.â€

“She’s got herself worked out with her meds and she’s raring to go!†he told Extra this week.
