Brad Pitt’s ‘Maleficent’ prankster hit with restraining order
Brad Pitt’s red carpet prankster who was arrested Wednesday has been hit with a restraining order, according to reports out Thursday.
Vitalii Sediuk, the Ukrainian prankster on three-year probation for rushing the stage during singer Adele’s 2013 Grammy Awards speech, reportedly lunged at the actor at the “Maleficient†premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday and punched him in the face.
Sediuk, 25, “made contact†with Pitt on the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre where Pitt was attending the premiere of Disney’s reboot with his fiancee, Angelina Jolie, who stars in the film, and several of their children. The prankster broke Pitt’s designer sunglasses, was removed from the red carpet by security, arrested and taken to jail, according to L.A. Now and TMZ.
The “12 Years A Slave†producers was not hurt, according to People, and continued to sign autographs with Jolie after the incident
“[Brad] was fine, unharmed and went about his evening and watched the movie with his family,†a source told the mag.
TMZ and E! News obtained photos of Sediuk — clad in dashing red pants — taking a head-first tumble over the posted barricades. Witnesses reportedly saw him jump over the barriers and onto the blue carpet where he rushed the actor. Security guards pulled him back across the barricade and he was led away in handcuffs, reports said.
The rabble-rouser, who has become known for various confrontational run-ins with A-listers in high-profile settings, was arrested at 7 p.m. on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to the Sherriff’s Department online booking records.
“This was an unfortunate and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the LAPD,†a Disney spokesperson told People.
Though it is unclear if Sediuk was credentialed at the heightened security event, the prankster has previously been granted media entrance to events under the credentials of Russia Life News, Eurovision and the Ukrainian organization 1+1, according to the Washington Post.
However, his previous antics have led to his firing, and the most recent altercation has led to his publicist cutting ties with him, the Associated Press reported.
“This goes beyond pranking,†his former publicist Christ Scherck told AP. “This is no longer entertaining.â€
Pitt also obtained a temporary emergency restraining order against Sediuk ordering the prankster to stay at least 500 feet way from the “Fury†star for the next five days, TMZ said, adding that the case has been forwarded to the L.A. city attorney for possible prosecution.
Sediuk’s latest caper may also be considered a violation of his probation, his lawyer Anthony Willoughby told AP. Willougby represented Sediuk in the Grammy trespassing case and is likely to represent him again.
“He’s not a violent individual,†Willoughby said. “He’s an easygoing young man.â€
Sediuk has previously tried to kiss Will Smith at the Moscow premiere of “Men In Black 3†in 2012 (and was met with slap in the face), buried his face in Bradley Cooper’s nether-regions at the SAG Awards in January, did the same with Leonardo DiCaprio at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in February, and most recently made a tent out of America Ferrera’s flowing red carpet gown during the Cannes Film Festival this month.
