Amanda Bynes returns to Twitter and tells followers she’s attending fashion school
Well, hello there, Amanda Bynes, and welcome back!
The former child star showed up Wednesday afternoon on Twitter after a long hiatus and explained that she hasn’t had time to chat with her 3.4 million online besties because she’s been busy with fashion school.
Bynes — who was well-known for her online blasts a couple of years back as she managed her mental health in public — tweeted only four times in 2015 and once previously this year, to show off a new haircut, so seeing her nine tweets in a row Wednesday had a hint of the Old Amanda. But only a hint.
After explaining that she’d been busy wrapping up midterms at FIDM (summer session at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising runs July 7-Sept. 19 this year, and she’s now at its L.A. campus) and sharing her appreciation for what she’s learning about the fashion business, the “She’s the Man†actress took a moment to set things straight about her online presence.

“FYI, this Twitter account is the only communication media that I am using. No other Twitter accounts or websites are mine!†the 30-year-old said in a series of tweets. “I only have this one. I don’t know why some people use my photos or try to pose as me, but they do. Please don’t be confused or believe any of them.â€
Why would someone pose as her online? Well, one Amanda Bynes parody account that’s clearly marked as such has 173,000 followers. Reason enough.
Bynes’ account still has remnants of her very public struggles in 2013 and 2014. Among other things, she faced DUI and other charges, jetted back and forth between New York and Los Angeles and was hospitalized on a 72-hour psychiatric hold more than once.
But now she’s back, she seems better and she’s owning it.
“This is me!†she tweeted Wednesday. “The verified, real, authentic and actual Amanda Bynes. Accept no substitutes!â€
