Amanda Bynes was arrested Thursday after she allegedly tossed a bong out of her Manhattan apartment window, police said.

The “What I Like About You†star was reported to police at about 7:40 p.m. after an employee at the 47th Street high-rise where she lives alleged that she was smoking marijuana in the building’s lobby, acting erratically and supposedly talking to herself, Reuters reported.

An officer went to Bynes’ apartment then saw a bong -- a water pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana -- on her kitchen counter, according to the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ. When the officer asked Bynes about it, this is what an officer said happened:

“I observed [Amanda] grab said bong, run to the westbound-facing window, and throw it out the window where numerous pedestrians were walking on the 8 Avenue and West 47 Street sidewalks below,†the officer said in the report.

The actress is said to live on the 36th floor, according to the New York Daily News.

The officer also noted smoke and the smell of marijuana in the apartment, E! News reported.

The 27-year-old was then arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, possession of weed and tampering with evidence.

E! News said that Bynes, who has been acting erratically in recent months, was first taken to Roosevelt Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and then taken to a police station for booking. She appeared in night court just before midnight where she remained in a holding cell for a morning hearing, TMZ said.

On Friday morning, she appeared before a judge. She was formally charged with attempted evidence tampering, reckless endangerment and marijuana possession.

The actress claimed that the alleged bong was “just a vase,†according to reports.

She was was released without bail on her own recognizance after appearing for her arraignment in a New York court on Friday morning, the Manhattan district attorney’s office told Fox 411. Her next court date was set for July 9 and the judge said that if she didn’t appear a warrant would be put out for her arrest.
Bynes has had quite a few run-ins with the law. Most recently, she pleaded no contest (via attorney) earlier this month to driving with a suspended license.

The actress traditionally takes to her Twitter account to air her grievances, but, as of late Friday morning had only reposted a risque photo of herself since the arrest.
