Emmys 2013: Jim Parsons wins best actor in a comedy
Jim Parsons won the Emmy for lead actor in a comedy series Sunday for playing ultra-geeky Sheldon Cooper on the huge CBS hit “The Big Bang Theory.â€
Parsons beat ouf fellow nominees Alec Baldwin (“30 Rockâ€), Jason Bateman (“Arrested Developmentâ€), Louis C.K. (“Louieâ€), Don Cheadle (“House of Liesâ€) and Matt LeBlanc (“Episodesâ€) for the award.
It’s Parsons’ third Emmy win in the role. He also won back-to-back Emmys in 2010 and 2011. The series, which follows the adventures of Sheldon and his geeky friends, is the top-rated comedy on TV right now.

The most recent season was its highest-rated yet, with an average viewership of 18.68 per episode.
“The Big Bang Theory†received a total of seven nominations this year, including one for outstanding comedy series and supporting actress Mayim Bialik.
The series is set to begin its seventh season this week, while the cast is reportedly negotiating a larger payday for a possible eighth season.
Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards are being held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and the show is airing live on CBS.
