Palm Springs Film Festival to honor Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper is set to receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award for acting at the 24th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards gala on Jan. 5 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
Cooper won the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures’ best actor award last week for his role as a young man suffering from bipolar disorder in the romantic comedy “Silver Linings Playbook.†He is also nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for the same role. The former People magazine “Sexiest Man Alive†is considered one of the strong contenders for the best actor Academy Award nomination.
“Bradley Cooper is just one of the many silver linings in David O. Russell’s enjoyable film ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’†said festival chairman Harold Matzner in a statement Monday morning. “Cooper’s portrayal of Pat Solitano is a career-best performance that has created Oscar buzz and has audiences rooting for him despite the challenges he faces throughout the film.â€
