SAG Awards 2013: Follow the awards live on Twitter
The 19th Screen Actors Guild Awards are taking place Sunday night, and SAG-AFTRA is making its social media presence known with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Instagram accounts.
The guild has even appointed “Cougar Town†actress Busy Phillips as its social media ambassador for this year’s SAG Awards. The actress, who announced the nominees with actor Taye Diggs in December, is serving as a behind-the-scenes guide for fans with her “Busy Backstage†feature on the TNT and TBS websites.
“So happy to be the @SAGawards Social Media Ambassador this year! Pretty sure famous people will be forced to take twitpics with me! Yay!†she wrote on Twitter.
So what does a social media ambassador do? Allow Phillips to explain:
“Let’s be honest, if TBS was looking for a super-classy someone to get behind-the-scenes access, share fashion commentary and live tweet from the red carpet of this year’s SAG Awards, how could they not choose me?†Phillips said in a YouTube promo for the show.
The awards show debuted in 1995 and is the only televised awards ceremony that exclusively honors performers. Members of the acting guild bestow the Actor statuette upon one another. This year, the performers of “Argo,†“Les Misérables,†“Lincoln†and “Silver Linings Playbook†lead the nominations.
