Hulu CEO Jason Kilar withdraws from consideration as Yahoo CEO
Hulu Chief Executive Jason Kilar has withdrawn from consideration as a candidate for the top job at Yahoo.
Hulu issued a statement Friday morning indicating Kilar no longer wishes to be considered for the chief executive’s job at Yahoo. News that he was among the top candidates surfaced Thursday.
“As has been reported, Jason Kilar has been a focus of the Yahoo CEO search committee,†a Hulu spokeswoman said. “He has graciously declined to be considered.â€
Yahoo’s Interim Chief Executive Ross Levinsohn, a seasoned media veteran, is now believed to be a leading contender to take over the helm of the struggling Internet giant. He has deep ties to the major entertainment companies and to advertisers, and has articulated a vision for Yahoo as a digital media company.
Despite Levinsohn’s front-runner status, Yahoo’s board of directors has retained a search firm to seek outside candidates, according to one person famililar with the matter who requested anonymity because of the confidentiality of the recruitment process.
