20th Century Fox Chief Marketing Officer Oren Aviv departing
Oren Aviv, chief marketing officer for 20th Century Fox, has been let go from the studio.
[Updated, 10:20 a.m. PDT Oct. 17: Confirming Aviv’s departure, the studio announced that he would be replaced by Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus, who have been named co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution for the studio. The executives have been co-presidents of 20th Century Fox International since September 2005.]
Aviv had held the post since February 2011. Previously, he had served as Walt Disney Studios’ president of marketing from 2000 to 2006, and went on to become the company’s head of production before being ousted in 2010.

Aviv is the third major marketing executive to leave a studio in recent months. In September, Marc Weinstock was fired from his post as Sony Pictures Entertainment’s head of domestic and international marketing. Terry Curtin, who served as Relativity Media’s head of marketing, departed the company in August.
A source close to the studio, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, characterized Aviv’s ouster as part of a restructuring of operations.
Aviv also shared the title of president of theatrical marketing with Tony Sella, a Fox veteran of more than 20 years who also is the studio’s chief creative officer. From the start of Aviv’s time with the studio, Hollywood observers had paid close attention to how he and Sella worked together.
“If we do it the right way, we will be living in a fluid and conjoining universe together,†Aviv told The Times in a January 2011 interview. “How we exactly want to get there, we’ll have to figure out.â€
During Aviv’s tenure a chief marketing officer, 20th Century Fox released such successes as 2012’s “Life of Pi,†a commercial hit that won four Academy Awards earlier this year, and this summer’s “The Wolverine†and “The Heat.†But there were recent misfires, including the under-performing “The Internship,†which grossed $45 million domestically; and “Turbo,†which took in $82 million in the U.S. and Canada, according to Box Office Mojo.
Many in Hollywood will be watching how newcomer Aviv will work as a team with Sella, who has been at Fox for 19 years. Sella was most recently co-president of marketing with Pam Levine, who left the studio in December. - See more at: https://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2011/01/oren-aviv-named-chief-marketing-officer-for-20th-century-fox.html#sthash.dv7rL2Sw.dpuf
