‘David Bowie is’ exhibition heading to Chicago museum
“David Bowie is,†the successful multimedia exhibition that traverses the musical icon’s many personas and decades-long career, will have one U.S. stop on its world tour.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago announced Tuesday the show will be on display from September 2014 to January 2015.
The first international retrospective on Bowie, the exhibit traces the artist’s 50-year career through 300 objects, including handwritten lyrics, photography, set designs, album artwork, original costumes and video installations.
ART: Can you guess the high price?
London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, which organized the show, has drawn 300,000 visitors since the show opened in March and stayed open until 10 p.m. to accommodate the crowds.
The Bowie exhibit departs the V&A museum Sunday and will travel to Toronto and Sao Paulo, Brazil, ahead of its Chicago stop.
Later exhibits are planned for Paris and the Netherlands.
