T-Mobile to offer Nokia Lumia 810 and LG Optimus L9 smartphones

T-Mobile announced two new smartphones Monday, its first since agreeing to merge with MetroPCS last week.

The two phones are the Nokia Lumia 810, which runs on the new Windows Phone 8 operating system, and a 4.5-inch screen LG device that runs on Google’s Android operating system. Both phones are T-Mobile exclusives and are not available on other carriers.

The Nokia phone features a 4.3-inch screen. It runs on a Qualcomm 1.5Ghz Snapdragon processor and includes an 8-megapixel rear camera. The Lumia 810 also features an HD front-facing camera.

The Lumia 810 will include wireless charging. T-Mobile said it will offer black and cyan shells for the phone. The Nokia phone has 8 GB of storage but can be expanded through a microSD card.

The LG device is called the LG Optimus L9. The phone runs on a 1 Ghz dual-core processor and uses Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which the second most recent version of the Google operating system.

The Optimus L9 comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and is also supposed to have a long-lasting battery, according to T-Mobile. It only has 4 GB of storage but can be expanded through a microSD card.

T-Mobile, which is trying to market itself as the “Challenger†to Verizon and AT&T;, did not reveal prices for either phone. The Seattle-based carrier said the two devices would be available in the coming weeks.
