HTC on Thursday formally unveiled the HTC One mini, a slightly smaller version of its flagship smartphone.

The Taiwanese company teased the announcement Wednesday, tweeting “we have a ‘little’ bit of news tomorrow,†and releasing a picture of a device inside a small pocket. Rumors of the smaller smartphone had been floating around the Internet for quite some time.

The new device will essentially come with the same features as its larger variant. The main difference is the size of its screen. Unlike the HTC One’s 4.7-inch 1080p HD screen, the HTC One mini features a 4.3-inch 720p HD screen.

Another difference is in the phone’s processor. The mini uses a dual-core 1.4 GHz processor while the HTC One runs on a quad-core 1.7 GHz processor.

“The HTC One mini embodies everything that makes the HTC One a success on a smaller but equally eye-catching scale,†Peter Chou, chief executive of HTC Corp., said in a statement.

HTC said the phone will be available in some markets next month and then globally by September. The company did not say when it will reach the U.S. or how much it will cost.
