‘Ross the Intern’ snaps up a slick new hideaway in Palm Springs

Exuberant television personality Ross Mathews, known for his appearances as “Ross the Intern� on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,� has bought a home in the Palm Springs area for $570,000.

The Jim Cioffi-designed home, built in 2011, pays homage to mid-century modern style with a sloping butterfly roof, walls of floor-to-ceiling glass and a lime green front door.

Inside, open and airy common rooms feature polished concrete floors, modern fixtures and vaulted ceilings. A formal living room with a centerpiece wall fireplace and a dining area bookend a chef’s kitchen with a wide center island.

Each of the two bedroom suites has sliding glass doors that open to a private patio area. A tiled bath and soaking tub highlight the master bedroom.

Outdoors, a concrete patio surrounds a saltwater swimming pool and spa. Museum palo verde trees and other desert landscaping complete the grounds.

The house came up for sale in April for $624,999 and was more recently priced at $574,900, records show. It previously changed hands three years ago for about $425,000.

Leonardo Montenegro of HOM Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. Arleen Cohen-Bianchi of Keller Williams Realty represented the buyer.

Mathews, 37, started on the “The Tonight Show� in 2006 and has appeared on “Chelsea Lately� as well as “Hollywood Today Live� as a guest host. He had a recurring guest role on the television soap “Days of Our Lives� from 2004 to 2011.
