Skateboard pioneer Rodney Mullen sells his view-house in Ojai

Professional skateboarder, author and public speaker Rodney Mullen has sold his hilltop home in Ojai for $1.25 million.

Set on 1.65 acres, adjacent to forestry land, the red-hued adobe home takes in 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and the valley floor.

The split-level house, built in the late 1970s and since updated, has a casual yet contemporary feel with slate floors, wood-paneled doors and windows, subtle alcoves and built-ins. An abstract modern fireplace serves as a partition for the open floor plan.

Living and dining areas, a rustic kitchen with a copper sink, two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a bonus room lie within the 2,026 square feet of interiors. There’s also a screened porch.

Outdoors, grounds filled with native landscapes feature multiple patios, a spa, fruit trees and a one-stall barn. Hiking and riding trails surround the property.

The house came to market last year for $1.449 million. Mullen bought the property more than a decade ago for $740,000, records show.

Nora Davis of Coldwell Banker Property Shoppe was the listing agent. Charleen Michaels of Keller Williams Realty repped the buyer.

The 49-year-old Mullen is considered a pioneer in the skateboarding world, having created such tricks as the kickflip, the 360 flip and the darkslide. He founded World Industries in the late 1980s and is also a co-owner and team rider for Almost Skateboards.

He is the author of “The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself.�
