Barneys Warehouse Sale in Los Angeles canceled
The Barneys Warehouse Sale comes through Los Angeles twice annually, bringing with it the promise of high fashion at (comparatively) low prices. But that shopping extravangaza has been canceled this August as Barneys brings its much anticipated sale online.
“As part of our digital strategy to create a true omnichannel experience for customers, Barneys New York has brought the Warehouse Sale online this August,†the company told Racked LA. “To accomplish this and allocate appropriate levels of inventory to the digital sale, the Los Angeles warehouse sale will not be taking place this season.â€
Barneys added that its New York branch of the semiannual sale is still occurring this August.
There is no word yet on whether the Los Angeles sale, which draws thousands of eager shoppers to scrounge for bargains, is canceled for good or temporarily shuttered so Barneys can work out its digital store. At the very least, budget-minded fashionistas in Los Angeles will have to compete with the rest of the country for coveted designer items.
The Warehouse Sale was held for 14 years at the Santa Monica Airport, where shoppers braved portable toilets and no changing rooms. In August 2009, the event jumped ship for the roomier and more comfortable L.A. Convention Center.
Those interested in the online sale can register on the Barneys Warehouse site.
