Research In Motion changes its name to BlackBerry

Research In Motion is changing its company name to BlackBerry to fit with its brand of smartphones.

The Canadian tech company announced the news Wednesday at the launch event for BlackBerry 10, the latest version of its mobile operating system.

“It is one brand, it is one promise,†Chief Executive Thorsten Heins said at the event. “From today on, we are BlackBerry everywhere in the world.â€

The company also said its new stock ticker will change from $RIMM to $BBRY to fit with the new BlackBerry name.

Besides the name change, BlackBerry also unveiled two new phones at the event: one with a physical keyboard called the Q10, and another called the Z10, with a touch screen only.
