Apple CEO Tim Cook to meet with Samsung CEO Choi Gee-sung
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook and Samsung Chief Executive Choi Gee-sung are expected to meet Monday in San Francisco to discuss legal disputes going on between the two companies.
The meeting was mandated by a federal judge in an effort to help the companies reach a settlement before their dispute goes to trial in San Jose in late July.
The two companies are involved in 20 legal disputes spanning 10 countries across the globe involving patent infringements, according to a report by Reuters.
The case in discussion Monday goes back to April 2011. Apple sued Samsung for imitating its iOS products with its line of Galaxy S devices, according to PCMag.
An Apple spokeswoman told Reuters, “Apple needs to protect its intellectual property against ‘blatant copying’.â€
The head of Samsung’s mobile division, JK Shin, said the company wants to resolve its troubles with the Cupertino company.
“There is still a big gap in the patent war with Apple,†Shin said. “But we still have several negotiation options.â€
